The GSMD seen across the Barbican lake. A Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) occurs as music and dramatic arts school which was founded in 1880 in the City of London, UK. A number one Guildhall School was housed inside an old storage warehouse inside Aldermanbury, but these assumption presently proved as well little. The recently purpose-purpose-made building within John Carpenter Street was designed by City Architect Sir Horace Jones and opened in December 1886.

Prior to 1935 it was known as a Guildhall School of Music. Since 1977 it has been next to the Barbican Arts Centre in the Barbican Complex built in the 1960s - 1970s.

A GSMD offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, is the public examining immune system, & has a junior department.

Among Guildhall graduates: Orlando Bloom, Ewan McGregor, Al Weaver, Debbie Wiseman, and George Martin.

Guildhall School of Music and Drama
